Fire in the Sheep’s Mouth

The greatest book ever written is the Holy Bible. And while it exists, it will continue to be spiritual food for God’s true sheep, as well as a snare, distasteful, avoided, vehemently debated, and hated by the world.

And God wants it this way.

There are many people who proclaim to be Christians, and yet among them there is no real unity outside of their particular group, or among others who share their so-called convictions or view of the bible. Thus, we have no unity because we all tend to veer in the direction of what we think, and what we think God means in the bible. So, we don't have unity, but we do have hundreds of denominations, and splinter groups within bigger groups, all claiming personal salvation. All the while these groups attack other groups who say that ‘they are Christian of like faith, that they possess the "Truth" and that they have the Holy Spirit’.

What does the bible tell us about the Holy spirit?  Translated from the original language, hagios pneuma means clean breath.

God breathed his clean breath into the first man Adam. With this breath came the ability to speak and communicate with the Lord.  There was no separation at this time between God and man kind. This same clean breath was then given to Eve and she also was able to communicate with her husband. The bible doesn’t tell us whether or not she communicated directly to God himself. But at some point, during the course of communication between man and wife, God’s commandment became a matter of personal judgment. This became evident when Eve was tempted by the serpent, adding her words to God’s commandment.

The Holy Spirit is the God-given ability to not only understand the truth, but also to speak it. We lost this in the fall, and God restored it to those whom He chose, as Titus 3:5 explains. These are those whom God frequently calls his sheep. This is why Jesus said that whatever is in man, will come out of his mouth. If truth goes into us, and the Spirit is the truth, then it should also come out of our mouths, unchanged. This is the hagios pneuma that God has, and uses, to renew in His sheep.

If man truly believes God’s word, they would not add any of their own to it. When Eve said God said she and her husband could not so much as touch the tree, she corrupted God’s word with her own, and the Devil caught her on it. If this idea was not
already in her heart, it would not have come out of her mouth. This presents a couple of things to consider.

First, consider the answer that the serpent gave to Eve. He knew first-hand God means exactly what He says, and it’s not open for debate by any of the things He created.

The devil was looking for someone who shared his views, maybe, someone who would agree with him. Who knows for sure? But the fact is that he lost his first estate, at least partly, through corrupt communication.

Second, how long does something have to be in our hearts before it comes out of our mouths? We, who say that we are Christians, are to speak God's word. IF we truly have the Holy spirit, then our words shouldn’t replace, add to, or subtract from anything that The Lord says.

Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Someone who realized this was Isaiah.

Isaiah 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

He realized this, and the first flaw that he addressed was his speech and man's words in general. The same thing happened to Paul. God gave him eyes to see, and ears to hear, because he, too, was a sheep. Should it be any different with us? Absolutely not, if we confess Christ!

Isaiah 30:27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire.

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

His tongue fell on the upper room at Pentecost, (as of fire) and what proceeded out of Peter's mouth? The hagios pneuma, the clean uncorrupted word of God that all of his apostles spoke after they were baptized with it. This was not a gift to use later to express their opinions or interpretations of what they thought God said. It was His words in their mouths, speaking exactly what He said, nothing more, and nothing less. They all paid for speaking this truth, with their lives. We cannot truthfully say that we still have this unity in the Spirit, if we are not willing to do likewise. We do have pride, self-will, confusion of languages, traditions of men, and the apostasy to contend with.

What will cause division faster than anything else?

Words!

When God confounded the one language of the people, they divided. All it took was changing their words so that they  could not communicate with each other, and they left off building together. How is this any different when those who profess to be Christians, leave off working together for the building of the Kingdom, and divide into ‘denominations’? What is the reason? Words! Corrupt communication, division, tradition, personal opinions, the apostasy.  The bible says that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish. What cross? It’s not the accepted Christ doctrine and you’re home free, cross. It’s the daily cross that we are commanded to bear. Dying to self, and speaking truth to everyone, including everyone claiming to know God. But the apostasy teaches another Jesus, the easy Jesus, one who said it’s ok to “agree to disagree”, it’s ok to ‘interpret the scriptures as you see fit, and pull them out of context to support your view, or that of your denomination. God loves everyone, unconditionally, and expects us to do so also’. That, and a plethora of other smooth words and fair speeches. This is not the work of the Holy spirit and fire, it’s just smoke.

Jesus said; Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not. John 8:43-46.

God puts a great deal of importance upon continuously communicating uncorrupt words.

James3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

God said that the power of life and death are in the tongue. Not tongues. On the day of Pentecost they were all Jews, lost sheep of Israel hearing the message of repentance for the first time since the Diaspora, when God said that if they didn't stop the Baal worship he would scatter them over the whole earth, until the time when he would gather them back.

Jeremiah 9:16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

That is why the scripture says in Acts 2, that they were devout men, from every nation. Not gentiles, but the dispersed Jews who still feared God enough to keep the 3 required feasts. His word pierced their hearts. Why would the gentiles be celebrating anything related to Pentecost when they didn't even know God?

Again, later interpretations of man, words from those who leave off studying the original language in favor of the harlot language of English and their traditional teachings, are what separate men from God. And God wants it this way. He tells the sheep to study. Study what? English? No. The languages that He chose to speak to the world in. Anyone can read a verse in English, but only the sheep and the Bereans will study everything out for themselves as we are commanded of God to do. That is being a doer of the word, not just a hearer. God was rebuking His people and then offering them forgiveness BEFORE Paul was later sent to gentiles. God was causing His lost sheep to hear the hagios pneuma, the fire of His word. The apostles all spoke the truth! It was the fire that began to burn up the chaff, and they all paid for the truth with their lives. This is not the same as what is going on today. Somehow, this fire has been transformed into smoke, and strange, strange fire!

I Corthinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

The Holy spirit that Jesus baptizes with is fire! True fire angers people, scares people away, it cuts at our hearts, it causes us to speak His word without fear, it causes righteous anger at false teachers and their convoluted doctrines, and it is only heard by God's sheep.

John 8:47 And what we have inside of us, will come out of our mouths, that is the hagios pneuma!

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; (hagios pneuma.

I John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

1John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess<3670> that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Now - Confession of Christ. What does this mean? Confess is Strong’s 3670. It is a compound word, Homologeo, from [homo] of the same, and [logos] words.  To confess Christ with our mouth does not mean to merely say to one another that we “believe in Jesus”, then go back to our little groups agreeing to disagree.  That is just smoke. To confess Christ means that we believe- IF we speak the same words that Jesus spoke. That is the true Holy spirit and fire! Who does this? The sheep do. Those who truly have the Holy spirit- hagios pneuma-of God! He has put fire in the sheep’s mouth, and no one else. If all that stuff going on in churches today is true, then why isn't that same Spirit leading everyone to the same conclusion?

Who really hears the voice of God?

Sheep.

Jesus is only speaking to sheep, because only sheep are hearing Him; because only the sheep can hear Him.

Isaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to [him that is] weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

John10:27 My 'sheep' hear [akouo- attend to, understand, comprehend, etc.] my voice [active voice, indicative mood, the subject being sheep doing the action hearing (shema in the Hebrew, it means to obey.)], and I know (Jewish idiom for intimacy) them (the sheep, or those who hear) and they follow me. 28) And I give unto them eternal life.

Is Jesus speaking to everyone? No! He's only addressing those who God has given ears to hear and eyes to see. The only missing element at that time for those sheep, was the hagios pneuma (Holy Spirit [or, holy spirit], clean breath) It is that same Spirit that all who can see and hear are empowered by, and if that fire is in us, we have no choice but to speak only the truth from our mouths. That is the hagios pneuma!

I humbly submit this study to my brothers and sisters in Christ, the “little flock”
